The ’80s are alive and well thanks to Netflix’s “Stranger Things”

I’m almost one hundred percent sure you’ve heard of the show. Still, just in case you need to catch up, “Stranger Things” is a story about a group of young friends who witness supernatural forces and secret government exploits set in 1980s Indiana.

The show was first released in 2016, but since then it has been a hit for audiences of every generation, giving parents nostalgia and kids a new aesthetic.

The show inspires Generation-Z fashion and music taste.

For example, Kush Bush’s “Running Up that Hill '' released in 1985 is currently number one on Apple Music because of its feature in season 4.

But that’s not the only song that had a rebirth because of the show. “Should I Stay or Should I Go” by The Clash, “Whip It” by DEVO, “Rock You Like a Hurricane” by Scorpions, “Material Girl” by Madonna, and many more. The list of songs goes on.

Not only has it popularized music, but the way in which it’s listened to.

2021 was the biggest year for vinyl record sales since 1986.

Walkman cassette players are now on the horizon because of their frequent use by fan-favorite character, “Max Mayfield” in season four.

“Stranger Things” have continued to have my favorite TV Show soundtracks of all time including both rock and pop of the ‘80s decade.

Volume 2 of season 4 comes out on Netflix on July 1st and I couldn’t be more excited to find out what songs they use in the new episodes.

Definitely give the show a watch or the soundtracks a listen if you haven’t already.
