On Friday, April 15th the festival grounds of Coachella were full. An incredible lineup of artists scheduled, all headlined by the magnificent Harry Styles. Fans from the barricade to their couches were anxiously waiting for this long-anticipated performance.
At 11:35 pm PST, Harry hit the stage, opening with “As It Was” his newest single to accompany his third studio album “Harry’s House”, which will release on May 20th.
Wearing a black fur coat that would be removed to reveal a rainbow sequin jumpsuit, he immediately took his first Coachella by storm.
The setlist consisted of “Adore You”, “Carolina”, “Woman”, and a new song called “Boyfriends”. With a similar vibe to “Cherry”, this surprise song is an early fan favorite. I’m so excited to hear the studio version of the album. I suspect it will be track five.
Following “Boyfriends”, “Cherry”, “Lights Up”, and “She”. Poetically, Harry got to sing “Canyon Moon” under a full moon in a California desert setting. It was almost too perfect.
Going along with the “Love On Tour” tradition, “Canyon Moon” would be followed by “Treat People With Kindness” and the iconic One Direction song, “What Makes You Beautiful”
All too familiar with this song, Styles said “If you know the words to this song, Lord knows that I do” before the nostalgic tune began.
A rumor brewed in the crowd before Harry took the stage. A possible special guest would be joining the singer. To everyone’s surprise, the amazing Shania Twain accompanied Styles to sing hits, “Man! I Feel Like a Woman” and “Still The One”. Harry expressed his admiration for Shania and how excited he was to be on stage with her.
Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, Styles surprised everyone with another new song titled “Late Night Talking”. I could already tell it will be one of my favorites off of the album. It had me dancing from home in New York at 4:00 am!
The last three songs consisted of the Grammy winner, “Watermelon Sugar”, “Kiwi”, and the masterpiece that is “Sign of The Times”.
Yet another spectacular performance from Styles, making his debut in Indio, California. His first Coachella, but you would have never guessed it. If you missed Week One’s live stream, no worries! Harry is such an incredible performer and in my opinion, definitely worth waking up at 2:30 in the morning for.
